Some of the defeated forces from Battle at Mortimer’s Cross fled to Croft Castle within whose grounds our other visit takes place. This is the ancient site of Croft Ambrey a hill-top Iron Age fort set in the grounds of Croft Castle, where archaeological excavations have revealed a fascinating insight into life there.
