Lunchtime Concerts Series

Guitar duo Gordon Dunn and Liz Larner

The duo formed in 2002 whilst they studied at the Birmingham Conservatoire and they have since performed in concerts and festivals throughout Europe. Past performances include recitals for the Lalinde International Guitar Festival (France), Warwick Arts Centre and Birmingham Chamber Music Society. The duo will perform a diverse programme of music from the stunning works of Granados and Castelnuovo-Tedesco to the captivating minimalism of Reich.


Benjamin Creighton Griffiths - Harpist

Now 14, he has taken part in some 250 events across the UK in aid of numerous charities, played to more than 70,000 people at the Wales Millennium Stadium and worked with international harpists. He has made two TV programmes for the BBC and won first prize in the junior section of the Concours de Harpe Lily Laskine, Paris – his prize was the Salvi Daphne pedal harp that he plays today. Earlier this year he performed at the Wales Holocaust Memorial Day event.


Jessica Hayes, Cello, and Rafal Luc, Accordion

Jessica  has won various prizes at the Academy including the Douglas Cameron prize 2006, the Delius prize 2008 and the Harry Isaacs prize and been highly commended in the Harold Craxton prize. Rafal Luc hails from Wroclaw, Poland, and was accepted into the Royal Academy of Music under the direction of Professor Owen Murray in September of 2007. His concert life began at just 10 years, and he has since given over 200 recitals. He has performed throughout the world and made recordings for Polish radio and TV and for BBC Radio 3. The programme will include: J S Bach’s G major Gamba Sonata BVW 1027, Saint-Saens’ Priere, A Piazzolla’s Le Grand Tango, Rachmaninov’s Vocalise.
